Ireland Vacations – What To See And Do

Ireland has a rich beauty unlike any other nation, making Ireland vacations ideal for people who want to see what makes it the "Emerald Isle." And while the country is known for its physical beauty, it offers a wide variety of adventures for visiting families from historical sites to taking in local culture to walking in nature and seeing the beauty of Ireland.

Ireland vacations show you the beauty of the Emerald IsleThere's so much you can see and do here. Trekking, horseriding, play golf, visit castles, enjoy the isle's unspoiled greenery and its magnificent outdoors... You can even enjoy a beach vacation, if you wish - and if the weather allows.

There are also plenty of historical sights and exciting cities as well as charming countryside towns. Ireland holds many wonders worth a visit.

Just to name a few of the country's sights...

Aran Islands – Group of three islands in Galway Bay, popular among tourists for their Iron Age forts and impressive nature, with its karst limestone landscape, cliffs and huge boulders.

The Burren – this is a karst landscape region in county Clare, measuring 250 square kilometres. The famous English MP and author Edmund Ludlow described it as “a country where there is not enough water to drown a man, wood enough to hang one, nor earth enough to bury him...... and yet their cattle are very fat; for the grass growing in turfs of earth, of two or three foot square, that lie between the rocks, which are of limestone, is very sweet and nourishing”.

At its southwestern edge you'll find the Cliffs of Moher, another location that should be on the list of all Ireland vacations.

Six Arches Bridge on the Ring of KerryRing of Kerry – This is not exactly a sight or a destination, but a route that lets you explore the stunning beauty of county Kerry. You can go driving (rent a car!) or biking or take one of the many bus tours.

This is one of the most popular attractions in Ireland. An exceptional itinerary on any one's Ireland vacation.

West Cork – Yup, that's where we live. It's the remote western area of Ireland's largest county with an overwhelming natural beauty, fine beaches and rich cultural heritage.

More destinations?

The neolithic monuments of Brú Na Bóinne, the Wicklow mountains which are known as the Garden of Ireland, Connemara with its green, barren windswept landscape... We could go on and on, but why not come over and see for yourself?

If you do, don't forget to visit some of our wonderful cities and towns.

Dublin is the capital of Ireland, and as a bustling city, it has a lot to offer tourists. There are many houses and buildings of historical significance, including the residence of the president of Ireland and the National Library and Gallery of Ireland that can make for educationally fun and rewarding Ireland vacations for the family.

Cork, the country's second largest city, and Galway, known for its many festivals, are also worth exploring.

Church in GalwayKilkenny is a great destination with historic, medieval buildings, art galleries, museums, craft and design workshops, theatre, and public gardens that give tourists a great variety of entertainment in one town. Kilkenny draws many culturally aware tourists seeking interesting Ireland vacations.

Many people also visit Limerick, a Midwest city that is quickly growing and improving.

The city gained popularity with the publication of the best-selling novel "Angela's Ashes" by Frank McCourt, who was raised in Limerick. There are seasonal Angela's Ashes walking tours of Limerick, as well.

Ireland has a rich culture and history that offers countless opportunities for tourists. Everyone can find something exciting, and the beauty of Ireland promises a vacation you'll never forget!
